Due to COVID-19, we hosted this workshop virtually. The workshop occurred weekly on Tuesdays, from November 17th until December 8th. Each session ran from 11 AM ET to 1 PM ET. This virtual workshop followed the normal ADSA format with real time conversations.

ADSA22 addressed the topic of “Reducing the Cognitive Load of Operators of Aviation Security Equipment.” Specific topics that were addressed included:

  • Automating operator functions, reducing vigilance decrement of operators and TIP
  • Target shifting and insider threats
  • Adaptability of machine learning algorithms
  • Open architectures and third-party involvement
  • Terrorist Be Gone: How do we get rid of terrorists? How do we allow passengers to just walk onto the plane?
  • Emerging technologies
  • Impact of COVID-19

The virtual sessions was organized as follows.

  • November 17th: Keynote address; TSA, DHS and other government perspectives
  • November 24th: Reducing operator cognitive load
  • December 1st: Reducing operator cognitive load continued and emerging technologies
  • December 8th: Emerging technologies
