ALERT | Awareness and Localization of Explosive-Related Threats

The University of Rhode Island, a research partner of ALERT, is offering a once-a-year open enrollment course, “Fundamentals of Explosives” from April 29-May 1, 2014.  The cost of the course is $1,450.

The course will examine chemical and physical principles of explosives; military and commercial explosives; explosive output; shock waves, detonation and initiation; explosive devices; homemade explosives, IEDs, and peroxides; and explosive detection. In addition, the course will address terrorist bombings and the gathering, analysis and interpretation of evidence. Lecturers are internationally known experts.
