SCOPE:  The NGA mission is to provide timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) in support of national security objectives. GEOINT is the exploitation and analysis of imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on the Earth. GEOINT consists of imagery, imagery intelligence, and geospatial information. NGA offers a variety of critical GEOINT products in support of U.S. national security objectives and natural disasters, including aeronautical, geodesy, hydrographic, imagery, targeting information and topographical.  NGA seeks proposals from U.S. institutions of higher education for path-breaking GEOINT research in areas of potential interest to NGA, the DoD, and the Intelligence Community (IC). NGA welcomes any innovative research ideas, including, but not limited to, example areas such as:

  • Access to GEOINT data and services
  • Computational Geo-Analytics
  • GEOINT tradecraft
  • Massive data
  • New sources and sensors
  • Precision GEOINT
  • Predictive intelligence
  • Signature development & discovery
  • Strategic indications and warning
  • Surface, subsurface, and above surface GEOINT
  • Understanding human activities
