Explosives Detection in Air Cargo – Part II

The Eleventh Workshop on Advanced Development for Security Applications (ADSA11) has been scheduled for November 4th and 5th at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. The title of the workshop will be “Explosives Detection in Air Cargo – Part II.”
The workshop is convened by the DHS Center of Excellence for Awareness and Localization of Explosives-Related Threats (ALERT).
This workshop is by invitation only. Registration has been closed.
Following the ADSA11 Workshop, ALERT will host the Task Order 4 Program Review on Thursday, November 6th.
This fall’s ADSA was held on Tuesday, November 4th, from 8:30am – 6:35 pm & Wednesday, November 5th, from 8:00am – 4:25pm
Location: Northeastern University, Raytheon Room, Egan Research Center, Boston, MA (Street Address: 120 Forsyth Street, Boston, MA 02115).

- Concept Operation
- Financial Considerations: Total cost of ownership; Impact of an event; Buying down risk
- Canine Inspection
- Trace and vapor inspection including sampling
- More on viewpoints of the following stakeholders: airlines, freight, forwarders, insurers and non-U.S. Governments
- Difference between screening and scanning
- Manifest verification
- Alarm resolution (secondary inspection)
- Neutron sources and detectors, and high-energy x-ray sources
- Automated threat recognition (ATR)
- On-screen resolution
- Automated methods to determine type of screening
- Testing and validation
- Shield alarms
- X-ray backscatter
- Molecular specific detectors
- Funding methods

Please pay any expenses you consider to be eligible for reimbursement (see guidelines) and please complete our expense reimbursement form and submit along with original receipts (please make photocopies for your records) at the address below. Please include your home address if you would like the reimbursement made to your attention. Reimbursements requests must be submitted no later than 10 days following the completion of the trip or of incurring the expense.
