Screening of Personnel and Divested Items at the Checkpoint

May 12 – 13, 2015, Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts The Twelfth Advanced Development for Security Applications Workshop (ADSA12) will be held on May 12th and 13th, 2015 at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. The title of the workshop will be, “Screening of Personnel and Divested Items at the Checkpoint.” The workshop is being convened by the DHS Center of Excellence (COE) for Awareness and Localization of Explosives-Related Threats (ALERT). This workshop is by invitation only. Registration will close on May 5th, 2015 or once capacity has been reached.

Workshop Information

Date and Time: This spring’s ADSA was held on on Tuesday, May 12th, from 8:30 am – 7:00 pm & Wednesday, May 13th, from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Check-in will start at 7:30am on both days.

Location: Northeastern University, Raytheon Room, Egan Research Center, Boston, MA (Street Address: 120 Forsyth Street, Boston, MA 02115).

Emerging hardware

      •  X-ray and millimeter wave imaging, Terahertz, metal detectors
      • Personnel, divested object and shoe scanners
      •  Emerging algorithms and processes

Reconstruction and automated threat detection

      • Concept of operations, secondary alarm resolution
      • Computer simulations of scanners, objects and testing

Improving the passenger experience

Registration Fees

ALERT has instituted new registration fees. Each attendee will be prompted for secure payment prior to the completion of their registration. Fee rates are based on attendee affiliation: Government Agency, National Labs and Academia: $100 per person. Industry (Mid-Large Business): $500 per person. Industry (Small Business*): $250 per person. ALERT University Partners, ADSA12 Speakers, and ALERT/Gordon-CenSSIS Industry Members are exempt from registration fees. *Small businesses are defined as having fewer than 500 employees. Registration will close on May 5th, 2015 or once capacity has been reached.

Directions and Parking

A Campus map and directions are available online at www.neu.edu/campusmap. Northeastern University has two paid campus garages with parking: Renaissance Parking Garage (#62 on the campus map), located at 835 Columbus Avenue, Boston and Gainsborough Parking Garage (#45 on the campus map), located at 10 Gainsborough Street, Boston. Parking tickets will be validated at the workshop.

Reimbursements – Available for ADSA12 Academic Speakers Only

Please see reimbursement guidelines for instructions and information, and please complete our expense reimbursement form and submit along with original receipts (please make photocopies for your records) at the address below. Please include your home address if you would like the reimbursement made to your attention. Reimbursements requests must be submitted no later than 10 days following the completion of the trip or of incurring the expense.
