Transitioning Technology

The President’s focus on creating high-tech jobs to maintain America’s competitiveness in the global marketplace makes it very timely to highlight the technology transfer initiatives from universities into the private sector.

Research to Reality

At ALERT, our strategy of bringing “Research to Reality” requires our center to focus on scouting for opportunities that link our researchers with our industrial base and our government customers.  We have successfully inculcated this culture, reaching out to our stakeholders as part of our everyday routine.

Developing a Process

Northeastern University in particular, is extending this culture into all others departments of the university by forming the Center for Research Innovation, whose charter is to support technology transfer opportunities. The flow chart below outlines the Center for Research Innovation’s current technology transfer process.

The partner universities that make up ALERT are strongly committed to continuing this culture of “Research to Reality”.   Having close ties with both the DHS community and industry, has created an environment where technology transfer is ubiquitous; resulting in a win-win for all participants.
