CBP-ADEPT Workshop 6: Seaport of the Future

Customs and Border Protection – Advanced Developments Encompassing Processes (CBP-ADEPT) Workshop 6: Seaport of the Future, is convening to discuss U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) needs for enhanced technologies and processes to interdict contraband for future seaports. The workshop will take place in New Orleans on July 16-17, 2024.

Convened by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Centers of Excellence (COE) for Soft Target Engineering to Neutralize the Threat Reality (SENTRY) and Awareness and Localization of Explosives-Related Threats (ALERT) at Northeastern University, workshop attendees and presenters will include individuals from industry, vendors, academia, DHS, CBP, and National Labs.

The objectives of the workshop are:

  • To learn about CBP’s vision for a seaport of the future and needs for enhanced technologies
  • To learn about constraints that affect the development and deployment of new technologies
  • To hear case studies related to developing and deploying new technologies
  • To hear from multiple stakeholders
  • To hear about emerging technologies from CBP and other participants
  • To discuss how to increase the involvement of vendors, academia, National Labs and industry in the design of the seaport of the future
  • To take tours of CBP operations in New Orleans

DHS and CBP are pursuing the development of improved equipment and processes for protecting the Nation’s borders by stimulating the development of and transition to products using new detection methods conceived by researchers from academia, national labs, and industry. One tactic that DHS and CBP are using to stimulate this involvement is to sponsor a series of workshops addressing the opportunities that may enable the development of next-generation systems.

Please note that participation in the workshop is by invitation only.
